Re: 18 Seacraft for sale

Is there anything different between the regular Z150 HPDIs that you normally see on the salt and the V-max series?

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

What's the deadrise on the hull? And how fast can that 250 move that boat? How deep is the cockpit at the stern?

Really nice looking boat

Re: merc starter questions

Are you sure it is the brushes? What makes you think so? Are they corroded?

9 times out of 10 a starter fails because the armature is grounded to the commutator.

Re: replacing Theromostats OB ?

Yep, pretty straight forward.

Just backout the bolts easily, that is don't horse them out. You don't want to break or strip the hole. However, I doubt this would be an issue with a 99'.

Re: Transom glass thickness

That's exactly what I did. After making the fillets and then glassing a layer of mat and 1708 it was very stiff.

Also, now is a good time to eliminate all the 90 degree corners between the transom skin and the...

Re: 1971 20 SF Transom project

I ended using vinylester resin. First I rounded all the corners/angles where the transom meets the bilge/hullsides with thickened resin. After I put a layer of 1708 and 1.5 oz mat on the transom skin...

Re: 1971 20 SF Transom project

You wrote outside skin in your post...you meant inside skin, right?

I would use more 1708 on the inner skin. But any combo you use (like the one you suggested) is going to be very strong.

I'd use 2 layers of 1.5 oz mat for laminating the two pieces of plywood. Make sure they are both wet.

I'd also use some more mat over the 1708 before the final 6 oz cloth layer. If not you'll end...
