IMHO Enjoy it as a 20 knot boat, or bracket & outboard if the need for speed is overwhelming. I speak as an Inboard owner for over 20 yrs.

Nidacore is much easier to cut and work with than plywood.
It's incredibly light.
Just make sure you bond it the top skin with resin or a bonding agent, and remember that it won't hold hardware...

I used 1" nidacore. The mahogony was a base for my leaning post screws.
I built a frame of 2x6's that would allow for the center of the floor to have a slight crown- (about 1/8") to shed water....

No extensions on mine- 351 Ford, or later 350 GM. Just the rubber flapper. Boat spent plenty of time at Montauk and seas from every direction.

My boat originally had a 351 Ford engine & I later put a 350 MPI Marine Power engine in its place. No problems ever with water coming in the exhaust

Check your brass scupper tubes if you have them....

Check your brass scupper tubes if you have them. If the flare is gone on the bottom that could be the answer to your water issue.

I'm running a 16x15 cupped as well on my 350/260hp inboard with throttle body injection.
I experimented with quite a few others but get the best numbers with it.

Good luck- You may want to have your builder add some tabs to bolt the tanks to the stringers. The originals were foamed in. current practice is that is no longer the best as it can wick moisture.
