I have looked at alot of the restorations on this site and all seem to cut the deck out before removing the cap. I just was wondering because my floor is very solid, can't seem to find a soft spot...

Shift cable on controls is A-Ok.

I have it narrowed down to the lower unit(as in the problem is from there). Someone said it could be a bad bearing, or a clutch dog going bad, etc.

Mercury Outboard Lower Unit Noises.....

I seem to be getting a loud clicking noise when above 1200 RPMs, and a slight clicking in nuetral. All sounds are coming from the lower unit. I checked the shift and throttle linkages and everything...

But poor gas milage, compared to EFI engines or Fourstokes.

Tell ya what, that ol' 2 stroke flies her out of the hole, and has plenty o' power for those hairy...
