All Mercury Optimax 1.5 liter motors from 75 HP to 125 HP weigh the same, 375 lbs. I think if my Yamaha 130 2 smoke ever throws in the towel that will be my choice for my 18 even though I have never...

Re: Ride on 18's with brackets?

Sorry for the typo. I meant OptiMax 125. The OptiMax 75-125 all use the same 1.5 L block and are advertised to all weigh the same. Therefore i thought it best to opt for the 125. More power and...

Re: 18SF guys, anyone run a 25\" motor?

I don't know when the transom height was changed but my 1989 Tracker 18 has a 25" transom. With a light 2 strk Yamaha 130 I have no problem with water over the transom.

Re: Is a V6 4runner enough to pull a 20 foot seacraft?

I love my 18 and having been on both I have to say i agree with Mr. Potters statement "A 18 will do anything a 20 will do". The 18 has rod racks under the gunnels which a 20 does not have, unless...

Re: Polyethylene tank for diesel

I know this is probably not an approved method but I have a lawn mower tank, 8 gallon aluminum, that I repaired 7 years ago with JB Weld and as of yesterday it was still holding up fine. Maybe this...

1000 HP and AWD, wonder what the towing capacity is? Seems like it would make a good SC towing machine.

Re: Power for a restored 18SF

thats a good price for a low hrs Yamaha 130. I think you will be pleased with the combo, and you can probably sell it in the future for about what you paid for it and pursue the 4 stroke and or DI...

Re: Power for a restored 18SF

Just a note about performance, with 2 persons on board, 45 gallons of fuel, no bimini, a large cooler full of stuff, and fishing gear I cruise at 29/30 mph and 3900-4000 rpm. WOT 5400 rpm and...

Re: Power for a restored 18SF

My 18 SF is a 1987 with a 25" transom. Powered by a Yamaha 2 stroke 130, about 360 lbs. I would be concerned with any repower that exceeded 400 lbs also. I have been salivating over a Mercury 125...

Re: 1989 18' with an 1988 Merc 115?

The boat in question should have a 25" transom which will lessen the water intrusion. Earlier boats had a 20" transom. Most plastec, IE plexiglass, lexan, etc. should be able to make a w/s using...
