Suprisingly The reels stay out of the spray pretty well. I think the closed in transom protects them pretty well.
I have not yet crushed the reels with the motor yet, but I am pretty consciuos...

Anyone interested in enclosure for Sceptre?
I am putting a hardtop on my 23' Sceptre, and have a soft top w/ vinyl enclosure. Is anyone interested in this?

sorry about my info, i was exhausted last night when I posted that info. Worked some long hours then had a frustrating test run with the boat. Anyways it is a 15 pitch mirage prop, turning 550 rpms....

I have a 1978 23' Sceptre. I had a Armstrong bracket installed on the boat recently and put a brand new 225 hp Opti on it. The prop before did well with the boat, a 14P Mercury Mirage. However now...

thats cool...thats good advice with the top. I am a little worried because a have a 50 gallon auxillary fuel tank in the bow. rides great now, but some extra weight could be a problem
