We routinely scan vessels and then apply a scale factor. Sometimes it is a variable scale in the length and beam to get exactly the desired proportions.

If anyone is interested I own a 3-D measurement company and specialize in laser scanning and 3-D modeling. We do a lot of recreational boats. I do not mind assisting in documenting Seacraft models....
