Re: Gathering

Counting you, it looks like we're up to 3 boats; me, you and Trayder. Hopefully, more will respond.

I plan on fishing in the morning, just not sure where yet. I have not spent much time in the...

Re: Gathering

We usually meet/raft up at the mouth of Brenton Cove, between Ft Adams and Goat Island.

I still plan on being there. Who else is going?

Re: Transducer placement for a 1978 18'

Uncleboo's might be in a great spot, but the only way to know what will work for your boat is to have someone run the boat while you look over the transom for clean water .

One thing that messes...

Re: Regulator to SeaCraft

You can't really condemn a whole line of boats for one bad example. If too many boats had to go back, they would be out of business. New Seacrafts OTOH have had so many issues that I would not buy...

Re: Regulator to SeaCraft

The regulator's design lets you go a bit faster in heavy seas than the SeaCraft. The pluses are that the SeaCraft is much less thirsty; does not roll so much when drifting a beam sea; tracks better...

Re: How to keep a 1976 20' MA from sinking at the dock

Your description sounds like it is self bailing to me. :D

It's too early in the week to tell yet - maybe. PM your cell # to me and I'll let you know.

Re: Starboard rear hatches on a 20

I replaced the three rear hatches on my 20 with 3/4" Starboard in 2003 . It matched the thickness of the warped wood that was there previously. There's been zero warping.

Wood, otoh, you can...

Re: Trailering eye on front keel of 20SF

My boat came to me with two bow eyes; the original that was loose, and a second one accessible from the anchor locker. I had the original removed when my boat was re-gelled, leaving just the higher...

Re: 130 Honda 4 Stroke on a 20FT CC...Too Heavy???

That's what I have on my 20MA, along with Troll n Tabs (maybe another 40#). I don't have any problems and get ~40mph WOT. Also, no problems getting on plane with a 15" pitch SS prop.

Hope that...

Re: Is a V6 4runner enough to pull a 20 foot seacraft?

Not to pick fight or anything, but that statement makes no sense to me, maybe aside from the trailering. OTOH, if a hundred or so pounds makes a noticeable difference towing, you might need a better...

Re: Is a V6 4runner enough to pull a 20 foot seacraft?

I tow my 20ma with a 2002 Xterra V6. I generally tow for about an hour each way and have taken the rig 800+ miles to fish in NC.

I have no problems with it.

I've had good experience with them starting in 2003. I just ordered two replacements yesterday. They are on sale and standard shipping is free until 3/9 (still have to pay the extra charge though)

Re: anchor roller on 20 foot master angler

I approached the situation a little differently as follows:
I bought 300' of double braid rope - got a deal on e-bay
I also got a plow type anchor that fits easily in the front locker (hydrobubble)...

Re: Gathering

Narragansett Bay is a good central location. There are plenty of fishing venues, always places in the lee to raft up regardless of the wind, plenty of ramps, hotels, restaurants, etc.

Re: Carl Moesly's Ballast Tank Design Applied

A two compartment design also limits instability due to free surface effect of a partly filled tank. The PT design appears to be more prone to porpoising as the ballast transitions from full to empty...
