Curious, why are you flipping it if you are recoring the cap?
I can't say for sure, but I would be leery of flipping a boat with no cap.
Why not recore the cap, put it back on, and then flip it?

I wouldn't use neoprene if your putting them on the bottom like Pascoes method. You want something rigid like pvc.
