Re: 1974 23 SF

Scarborough is a builder of big, high $(is there any other kind?), custom sport fisherman boats out on the NC outer banks. I don't know that he has any particular background with Seacrafts other...

Re: 1974 23 SF

I don't have any real good info on the refurb. I think it was primarily cosmetic...teak helm, teak toe rail, flared out the gunwale somewhat. My friend whom I bought it from put in the leaning post...

Re: 1974 23 SF

OK, here goes. I hope this works. Hope I'm not breaking the rules with all these pics.

The outdrive doesn't look too great because I made the mistake of leaving it in the water for 2 LOUSY...

Re: 1974 23 SF I/O Desirability

Oldfielder,

I'm curious about your cruising speed of 32 MPH. I have a '74 23'SF with a '93 Mercruser 5.7 Alpha (4-bbl) and I'm lucky to get 20 kts at 3200 rpm. I seriously doubt if mine will hit...

Re: bottom paint

I've had my 23 priced at 3 locations. All say 80 grit sand, 2 coats of paint of your choice. One place (Rockville Marine) likes Pettit (not sure which), others like Micron csc or extra. Price...

Re: Diesel I/O opinions?

There's another diesel I/O option, in case you guys aren't aware of it. Steyr makes a couple of small diesels which they offer in conjunction with Mercruiser outdrives. It's a nice looking package,...

Re: Inboard/outboard

Thanks, for your comments, Scott. I have been reading a lot of your posts since I found this site a couple of hours ago. I am more of an inboard guy, hence my concerns over the I/O. But, as you say,...
