Hey Bill, My 23' 1979 Sceptre will cruise at 43-44mph at 4900 rpm with my 250 Merc and top speed is 50-52 (depending on load) at 5700rpm, play around with some different size and pitch props, a local prop shop or a good mechanic may lend you props to test. Also I took all my teak off and power sanded (started with coarse then finished with fine) the 20 years of grey off and used "Golden Teak Oil" from boaters world. It looks great.
