Are you sure you don't mean they mounted your motor too LOW? If it was too high, you would not get any spray like you talk about, if anything the boat would cavitate like heck getting on plane. I am going to assume you have tried to move the motor up to the top bolt hole, or didn't you? If you have a origonal transom, there should be no need for a transom jack, unless you have a 20 inch transom and a 25 inch motor or a 25 inch transom and a 30 inch motor shaft. As for aluminum set back brackets, the aluminum one's they sell in florida work well but are expensive. Try bobs machine shop in Ruskin fla, call or look it up on the web. All they do are jackplates.
