Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Hey CaptLloyd,
I'm happy with the hole shot, using a s/s 14x20 wheel. When I ran an 18x20 the hole shot was outrageous/awesome, but WOT pulled too many revs (and top end suffered). Suggest you make sure trying several props is part of the deal you make when purchasing (no matter what brand/model engine you settle on).
I think your choice depends on how you expect to usually use the boat...several people, a lot of gear and gas, or solo with a couple rods and half a tank? I had fun swapping out props, and was surprised at how significantly each changed the performance characteristics of the motor.
I ran in and out of Palm Beach inlet several times when wind, waves and current were kicking up, and I felt I had plenty of juice to bob and weave as needed.
Good luck! Brian
