Snookered,

I just noticed you live in Bradenton. So do I! Welcome good buddy! As for your transom. My '78 23ft had 2 small cracks in the upper corners of the transom. That let water in and created a big problem as the transom flexed. Anyhow, I fixed it and now it's strong as heck. As for your problem, I would drill it out and let it dry over the course of a week. As it gets dryer, put a heat lamp on the area and then a hair dryer for a few hours. Don't be afraid to drill a few test holes a few inches from that area. Just go in about 1/2 inch. Once you are convinced everything is dry. Fill with west system epoxy, 1-2 layers of a light cloth, sand and paing. Don't let a little problem turn into a major job like I did.
