Default Re: complete deck and transom re-build

I am about to begin a 20 CC project that includes converting to a single level deck as well. My original plan was to do what you are talking about; I was inspired by the pics that Trayder posted. I have since decided that route seems like too much work and it makes since to leave as much of the original liner as I can. That will significantly cut the amount of glass work and keep most of the structural benefits that the liner adds. I too would prefer to have a gunnell cap and toe space under it when I stand against the side to fight a fish. The space between the liner and the hull is pretty small from the console back and at the very front so the advantage would be negligible. I will probably just install combing bolsters and call it a day. My "plan" is to remove the liner and flip it over so I can use a circular to remove the forward casting deck and the aft splashwell/storage. When I glass in the new deck I can add reinforcement under the deck around the areas where I want deck hatches. The forward compartment below the casting deck is molded to fit between the stringers and would be a great start to a forward below deck fish box.
