Re: seperating the liner & hull
I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE 20 I HAVE A 23 BUT I TOOK THE CAP OFF MY 23 TO RE DO IT, AT THAT TIME I LOOKED AT HOW THE INNER LINER AND THE HULL WERE CONNECTED. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP A LITTLE. THEY FUSED THE INNER LINER WITH THE HULL AT THE TOP WITH POLYESTER RESIN. THEN THEY SCREWED THE CAP, INNER LINER AND HULL TOGETHER. THEN THEY ADDED THE RUB RAIL WITH EVEN MORE SCREWS. AS FOR THE INNER LINER TO THE STRINGERS THEY USE A POLYESTER RESIN BEDDING COMPOUND TO HOLD THEM OR LET SAY LET THE INNER LINER REST ON TOP OF THE BEDDING MATERIAL, ON MY BOAT THAT STUFF CRACKED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS SO I CLEANED IT UP AND TRAWLED IN EPOXY RESIN AND FILLER TO RE SUPPORT THE WHOLE THING I EVEN USED A SURING AND INJECTED EPOXY STRAIGHT DOWN INTO THE CRACKED AREA’S TO HELP RE SUPPORT IT AGAIN. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEPARATE THE HULL FROM THE INNER LINER (IF IT IS LIKE MY 23”) YOU WOULD HAVE TO USE A JIG SAW AND CUT BETWEEN THE TOW THEN USE A BLOCK AND TACKLE TO LIFE IT UP AND AWAY. PERSONALLY I THINK THAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO GET TO THE ENTIRE HULL FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR BUT I DIDN’T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT AND WAREHOUSE TO DO THAT. SO I WORKED AROUND MY JOB BY REMOVING THE CENTER CONSOL, GAS TANK DECK PLATE, GAS TANK, THE DECK UNDER THE GAS TANK, REMOVED THE CAP, AND REMOVED THE BACK PORTION OF THE INNER LINER TO DO THE TRANSOM. IF YOU DO IT THE WAY YOU ARE THINKING YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO FLIP THE INNER LINER OVER AND REPAIR ANY SOFT DECK FROM THE INSIDE WHICH WOULD LEAVE THE DECK COSMETIC APPEARANCE IN TACK. I SUGGEST ONE 6 PACK OF BUD’S AND ABOUT 2 HRS OF THINKING FIRST BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION.
