.... only problem is that there arent any ribs or supports in that empty space the strengt and rigidity of the gunnels relies on that solid glass laminate. if you cut it out you will need to glass in knees that connect the gunnels to the hull sides, however if you only cut out a large oval like th space in the front the gunnel strength above the oval will be slightly compromised but then you have the problem of glassing rodholers, acess could make it difficult,
