Joe would certainly know better, but I don't think the Ford 351 block is used by any marine engine company any longer. I believe Indmar and Pleasurecraft used to use them, but not anymore.

I'm not an I/O guy, I've only had outboards, but what I do know about them, I'd certainly go with Joe's suggestion. You're getting a bulletproof engine block, good power and torque, a very reliable drive unit, and a huge dealer network.
