Fishing really came to life this past couple of days. I have heard stories of fluke, weakfish, bluefish, drumfish and stripers. Fluke were caught mostly around the Graveling Point area and in Marshelder Channel and in Little Sheepshead Creek by anglers who were focusing their efforts on stripers or weakfish. The weakfish were caught in Little Sheepshead Creek, Marshelder Channel and Grassy Channel. It's nice to see that the big weakfish have shown up along the banks in Little Sheepshead Creek on time this season. Quite a few anglers lined up along the banks of Little Sheepshead Creek, just past the fifth bridge on Great Bay Blvd. this evening, so the word is out even before Scott's web page told everyone. I just hope the anglers do a better job at keeping the area clean then they did last year. The one bluefish caught was overheard on the VHF radio by one angler telling another angler that he had a bluefish. The intonation of his voice indicated that a bluefish wasn't exactly what he wanted to see on the end of the line. Stripers are still being captured on Graveling Point and Pebble Beach by anglers using both clams and bloodworms. Vessels anchoring off the Point had success on clams today too. The hot herring drifting spot around the 120 marker is turning out it's fair share of bass too.
