Default South Florida Fish Report

Went out Saturday, first time out in a while, and I guess the fishing wasn't so bad......

Seas were supposed to be 2 feet or less, they lied. It was a good 4 plus with some 6 plus rollers. Anyway, the schoolies (Dolphin) were just not hungry, due most likely to the loads of baitfish hanging around the spotty weed patches. I could see them, they just weren't hungry. If I had some live bait on board, that may have worked but, other then that, I tried most every trick in the book and guess those little guys just had full meals prior to me getting out there at 7:30am. Most all of the dolphin were hanging between 350 and 500 feet and about 2 miles south of Fowey.......

Catch of the day, caught in 600 feet of water, trolling a frozen hoo, running a green/yellow skirt, a 62lb yellow fin taking about 45 minutes to boat. Needless to say, I have a full freezer.... Guess he must have been hungry because I sure wasn't expecting something like that to hit a frozen hoo of all things! Some BIG fish!

Would have stayed out for some more but my boys started getting a little green by 1:00......... Guess they need to start spending more time with me on the water.....

Tight lines, big fish!

John
