I caught a roosterfish down there off the beach in August.....on fly. They were keying in on the mullet right along the shoreline and showed NO interest in poppers of any kind (we threw everything AND the kitchen sink at them). Finally, a fly that was about 7" long and the same colorings as the mullet did the trick. Great fun to hook a fish like that and then have it head for Mazatlan while connected to your fly line.
