Mine drains while underway by pulling the drain plug from the inside. Otherwise I keep the plug in all the times.
Sinking, I've never heard that one before. I don't think I have or have had a leak problem between the innerliner and the hull as it's a plactic screw type thru hull fitting slapped together with 5200
