I have run my boat without the plug and never noticed a difference besides the water which will obviously drain underway. The boat will not sink if left out unless there is a leak between the hull and liner like mentioned before. As for putting things in with 5200, this is fine if you never want it to come out because it seems to take 5200 hours to get things apart. I do boat repair and we don't use it very often. there is 4200 which is half as strong, and 101 which is just a sealant. We use 101 or sikaflex for all thruhulls or things that may need to come apart someday. You may already know this like some do but maybe it will help others.
