It's tough to say in that story. Did Potter buy it from Mosely? or was he a successor? That part of the story is unclear, full of innuendo and often contradictory.
For instance, in the two years Moesly served as chairman, the company became worthless. Think about it. Either he was an honest to goodness CEO and therefore responsible for the decline, or he was a consultive figure head. If the latter was the case, he had no business butting heads with the management/owners. He should have stepped out of the way, otherwise he becomes part of the problem.

It's a very interesting article though and well worth reading.
