Re: 23 SeaCraft CC in NJ
I currently own a 1992 20' Sunbird with a 1997 175 HP Johnson. I have had the boat for several years and ready to move up in size.
The boats that I have the most interest in are Seacrafts, Kencrafts, Makos and Parkers. I want a boat in the 22 to 23 foot range. I want a cc and my family members would probably prefer a WA.
I have been following all relevant boat links quite closely. I spoke to the gentleman who was selling the 23 foot Secraft in question. If I had my boat ready to sell, I may have pounced on the 23 footer, but it is not ready so I did not.
$11K did seem like a very reasonable price. the guy I spoke was selling it for a friend. When I asked him about the compression on the engine he said that they did not know it because the engine runs fine. Because I got burned on my last engine, this left me being a little skeptical. However for 11k, I could have blown up that Suzuki and gotten a new replacment engine for $11k or so.
Some quick questions for those Secraft experts out there. How does the 23 foot WA ride compared to the CC? Also, are trim tabs recommended for either boat or not? Lastly, I don't want to start a running debate out there but would you take a lates 70's/early 80's Secraft instead of a more recent year Mako or Kencraft?
Oh, one more quick question. i read on this site that Poetter made them through the late 70's, then a very reuptable caribbean yact company took them over, and then Tracker came in. Is there really that much of a drop off in quality on the Tracker made boats?
