I think I have to get myself a ride in a SC 23CC. I own a 23 Tsunami w/ an i/o ( aka Sceptre ) and the ride is absolutely insane - it's perfect in most any snot. I am not arguing about the possibility that a 23 CC model rides better due to the aft weight and center of the helm - but if the ride is even noticable between a Tsunami and a CC - I would be surprised and impressed. Maybe a 23 Tsunami w/ an i/o rides as well or better than a 23 CC due to the heavy weight of the engine and a bravo III drive ?
As for a walkaround - they seem like they would be even more bow heavy than a Tsunami.
As we all know different sea conditions warrant different hull attitude/tab adjustment and speed. The different sweet spots on the hull vary with the different conditions so much - that I learn more every day I am on the boat ( although 'born on the water', I am relatively new to a SC w/ only 150 hours in my 1st season - so I respect the opinion of others w/ years of experience on these boats ).
I find in calm seas, my boat rides best w/ a moderate to light power trim - skimming along. In rougher seas, she likes the trim almost all the way down - it seems so more of the entry V can cut through the rough chop. If I trim her up in a rough sea, she definitely does not ride as smoothly as when the bow is more down - she seems to bounce around too much.
As for trim - sheeeet! These boats and trim tabs were made for each other. You must have trim tabs. Period. In a stiff wind or a quarter chop - you lift that side of the hull up to the chop and wind and the hull maintains it's deep V symmetry - the ride is simply unbelievable. With that same condition and no trim tab adjustment - you might as well be in any boat! However, most other boats w/ trim tabs - once brought to symmetry just do not have the Sc deep V.
Anyway, I would like to hear if anyone has experienced both a 23 Tsunami and a CC for rideability ?
