Re: 23' I/O swim platform mounting ?
Hey Craig - I'm hanging ... Got a few projects I'm working on. Swim platform is one.
And, I had a little core rot on the bow (10"x10" ) where one of the bow rails mounted to the deck. I plan on cutting out a 16"x16" spot ( hopefully that's it ), re-coring and repairing from the inside. Then w/ a hole saw, cutting out all the other areas where the bow rail bolts mount thru core; going to fill w/ epoxy and re-drill holes to avoid anymore rot.
As a matter of fact, I plan on doing that procedure where any screw/bolt goes thru wood/balsa - anywhere on the boat.
I have played enough with rotted core to know that I do not want to do it anymore !!!
That tool is cool, might have to get one for the platform - this is an area where you only get one shot to get it right ( or you end up doing a lot filling etc. ).
As for the epoxying of oversized PVC/Copper tube - I cannot see the benefit ? Can you explain ?
I can see the benefit of oversize drilling initial hole - then filling w/ epoxy/cabosil - curing, then redrilling proper hole - so as to avoid water into core...
