Re: New to site, questions about Seafari
Scott,
I assume that the step down is the original design, as my 71 only has 153 hours and is all original. I think that you really need that step down to stand in so you can stand up at the helm and still look through the windshield. It allows you to keep the bimini lower and provides a good transition into the cabin. There are storage compartments under the bunks. The head goes between the bunks. I plan to convert the I/O to a bracket so additional storage can be configured where the motor is now. I would consider using the step down area to stow portable fuel cells for longer trips offshore. The I/O has only 38 gallons (a factory OB has 47). I assume that the larger tank would extend into the engine compartment.
The fiberglass/gelcote sink is open underneath. The faucet is a pump. I assume there was a bladder that would live in that space. My guess is you could fit 10 or 15 gallons under there. As we boat in fresh water, you could shower using the wash down pump. Cool, huh?
