I have a Hynautic helm unit in another boat and found hydraulic fluid on the console floor. The gaskets in helm get old and you might also have a shaft problem.

800-247-6324. Hynautic is owned by teleflex now. I saw new units for sale by West Marine. It cost me $200 to fix. I recall new unit was about $600.
