Yep, Powdercoating is overated. Even the powdercoting guy told me that.
I had mine blasted and then sprayed it with Deft epoxy [Black/greenish] primer. I top coated that with 545 Awlgrip epoxy primer. The 545 is a primer/surfacer. The Deft is used on Fighter aircraft on their landing gear. This stuff is tenacious. My brother had a small crack in the custom alum tree stand's he build's. He had to grind it away. Then he put the TIG torch to it. It didn't even blister, just a slight color change.
