What is your max budget? Things can get pretty expensive once you begin adding gps, ff, vhf, am/fm new guages antaenns etc. The first thing I would do is stand on the back of the motor cavitation plate and bounce up and down. Have a buddy watch for transom flex. Do the same bouncing up and down all over the deck. Look in the bilge with a flashlight. Make notes. Lie on your back and look at the bottom. Any gouges? Obvious repairs? Now you also have a 14 year old fuel tank. Smell any fuel in the bilge? When was the boat operational last? 1year, 3 years? The current owner has indeed decided to sell rather than tackle the project; find out why.

If you tell us your budget is 25k and you want a 250 suzi, you can plan on having about 10k to buy the boat, get the trailer working safely, add electronics and that does not even get into things that make the boat look nice like pop up's, paint, bolsters, canvas.....

Anyone on this board knows someone that spent 40k, 50k ,60(clearing my throat) over the years on their 23SC.

In my book a hull with no motors, no recent paint, a crappy trailer, no current electronics, no current canvas is worth 5k.

If I had a 25k budget personally I would hang on a leftover efi yami or Suzi 225. I imagine you could get one for under 10k. I'd put the extra money in stuff to make it look nice, make it more seaworthy and help you catch fish.
