I don't keep poly resin too long because it can get funky.Epoxy resin like west can be stored and even if it gets lumpy you can heat it up to a clarity and still use it. In any case a freeze or getting too hopt can make it hard to work with. One time I had a gallon of West or system2 I don't remember, but it was in a five gallon bucket and left out in the rain. The lid was loose and the water froze. I took it into the house and thawed it. Then I poured out the water and heated it up to the point that the water eveaporated. I used that epoxy for a few years and finnised it all.
Once the polyester resin gets thick I don't think you can save it.
