I talked to Rich about his “new” boat I guess about 2 years ago now … That boat is beautiful. As far as the Mako, I remember seeing it on the water all the time … was a great looking boat. But its name was dead on!! There was another 23 Mako O/B by us … They got pounded to death in that thing yet refused to turn around in weather. They fished with us on occasion when we went offshore and the weather just wasn’t right for the 23.
The Bertram I worked on was the Polka Dot ... The owner lived in the first house right after the park. He had the first five slips after the municipal docks. Was with him for about 7 years while in high school and college. We fished about 4-5 days a week and would go to Florida with them for a bit in the winter ...It was great. He often referred to the boat as "my boat" ... I knew it inside and out, up and down … 7 days a week. An invaluable experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Lots of great times on that boat !!! Lots of friends made.
