Re: 1970 Seacraft w/ bracket and 200 HPDI
I'll get some more pics as soon as I have a chance to get her back in the water. I previously had a Johnson 150 gt w/20in shaft and it caught on fire, so sad. ya right! It just gave me an excuse to get a newer bigger motor. Once I installed the new motor I took it out for it's maiden voyage and the motor ran great but the boat acted weird like it was extremely heavy in the rear, more than just adding a bigger motor. Come to find out I was so excited to get it back on the water I forgot to seal the two new holes I had to drill for the jackplate so the flotation bracket was not flotation anymore it was completely filled. After draining and sealing the holes I took it out for the second time and what a relief. The rear sits just a little lower than with the other motor but I wouldn't change it for anything, the added room that I get having a bracket is great plus getting in and out when diving is much easier. I use a 19 pitch prop and I get on plane with no hesitation, I can run at about 48 mph at 5400rpm with 4 people and gear and 51 mph @5400 rpm with two people and no gear. I am still putting final adjustments on the jackplate so I think the speed will change. My only problem now is a little bit of bow hop at certain speeds but it's not bad, I'm just picky. I'll have more pics soon.
