I have this same project to do w/ my 23' Tsunami this Spring. I already removed the old shag carpet - which was a 'bee-atch' !

I found stuff called, "gorilla hair' - it's the carpet that is used by a lot of boat manufact ( my Grady White had it in the cuddy ). It is light, cheap and easy to work with - looks good too. I was able to rip out most of the old shag in one pc, so I used that as a template.

I have not installed yet because I want to have all the exposed wires in the cabin NOT be under this carpet, but surface mounted to it - for easy access. I plan to use some nice wire loom ( conduit to 'hide' the wires ) and use marine grade wire-holders screwed into the carpet and the underside of the deck.

When I do install the carpet, I am going to do it the way "Miles " described. I have been warned of a few things - wear a decent respirator, and watch out for sparks/flame when using the glue - a lot of flammable fumes ! I am going to use a fan - I know there are special fans for this i.e. no spark, but I think if I use a fan outside the cabin for air circulation, I'll be OK.

PS: I am also going to allow any bolts that go through the deck to also be on top of the carpet for access/ maint. i.e SS rail thru-bolts, window frame bolts/nuts etc.

If you get anymore good advice on this project, let me know.

Oh, lastly - I think I paid $60 for the carpet and delivery = it worked out to be the right stuff at the right price.
