Not sure about removing the t-bolts- they will probably come out though. One reason I use 4200 instead of 5200 is for that reason- As far as using the existing posts , thats all up to you. Many many options out there. I bought a new Birdsall two years ago and love it, there are many other good manufacturers including one csc member who make really nice posts. The ones with 4 legs are also more versital than the two pedestals as you can utilize that space for everything from coolers to live wells to tackle drawers, dive tanks etc. When I measured to install mine I started at 13" from the front of the post to the console and adjusted it from there, i think it pretty much ended up staying there. If i were going to fill in those holes ,I would probably drill them out slightly to where I could coat the area with west and then put some duck tape underneathso as to make a stop, fill the holes with west , then sand flush as nessesary. If your floor is as chipped up and battlescarred as mine then its not a big deal, but when I do a complete redo here sooner or later it will be right. good luck- heres a pick of my post. BTW- i love my post but if i were to do it again, I would just get a fixed back verses a removable back, it hasnt been off since I bought it.
