I would say 120-125lbs per cylinder. Anything lower than 115lbs is going to be pretty beat. And make sure all six cylinders are all fairly close, say no more than 5% of each other.
BTW, I don't think they made a efi in '89.

Yeah, the shift shafts are prone to go on those motors, and the shift linkage tends to bind up as well. Just make sure it's free and well greased and ask him if the shift shaft was replaced with stainless.
