Default Re: Power for 20 Master Angler

I have a 20 SF with an older 130 Yamaha 2S and this is plenty of power for the hull. I had an old Merc 150 on my last hull, and it went about 44 mph; the new boat does just over 40 mph (38 knots). The T top will add weight and drag, but it should be okay with the 115. There is a guy here in Britsol that runs a 20 SF with a Yam 90 and he has no problems, even though he loads it up and uses it as a ferry to Hog Island.

I think for these hulls, the bigger issue is that you do not want the weight of a 6 cyl engine on the back. I think the ride is much better with the 4 cyl, and the Suzy is a light motor, probably very similar to my 96 Yam.
