Default Re: Transponder

After filling three holes from old trans....ers, I decided to give the transom-mount ducer a go as a shoot through. I am trying my hardest to keep the transom pristine-even though I want a swim ladder, tabs, I just haven't brought myself to drill it yet.
Anyway, I made a sort of dam in the bilge and filled it with clear lifeseal and then slowly sank(trying to avoid air bubbles) the ducer into it, trying to eliminate some of the deadrise angle by keeping it horizontally oriented.
The thing reads beautifully-was marking all kinds of bait this morning in 60feet of water and bluefish all stacked up through the water column. I had heard I would lose resolution, but the thing looks at least as good as it does in simulator mode. It's worth a try and is a low risk install-you just lose the temp and speed-I didn't mind.
