Default Re: Replacement items

I was quoted $650.00 from a local aluminum welding shop here is south Fl. Then I added up the price for SS pieces with the little hex screws to hold in place through Taco marine products which came up to around $300 and something. I didn’t like parting with $650 to a welding shop and I didn’t like the thought of something else rattling when I hit a 4’ wave from the bow quarter. Plus I don’t have a means to bend those 90 degree bends up in the bow of the boat. I even looked into power coating the old rails but I am told that when salt water gets into it the paint will oxidize and bubble up. SOOOOO I still have not done anything. I even tried to find and contact the sub contractor that does them for SeaCraft now a days with no luck. I wouldn’t mind paying for someone to weld new ones for a fair price but taking two pieces of aluminum pipe putting about 6 to 8 brackets on it bending it and welding the brackets in place doesn’t seem like a $650 job to me maybe I am wrong. Oh by the way Wood Wax isn't going to bring back a 30 year Bow rail either I tried.
