Yup,there was definitely balsa core in the gunnel,why i'm not really sure,as the top layer of glass is very thick.We found the core when we removed some pvc rod holders that were right in the center of the gunnel,just back from where the windows end.I had a friend check everyting out on this boat,and he was impressed with the condition it was in.I trust his opinion,as he has built several boats,(just finishing a 30'South shore lobster boat)and also sells fiberglass supplies.He was the one who got me on the whole seacraft kick a few years ago.
I've restored a few boats in the past,but i'm kind of a novice when it comes to Seacrafts,and so i really welcome the help from the knowledgeable guys on this site.
