I wouldn't be afraid of them. A boat is only as good as the dealer you buy it from though. I've had old ones and currently have a newer one. They have all had their fair share of problems but I'll have to say that I like the new one the best so far. The key to SeaCrafts is the quality of the ride and the look on the water. Its the same weather old or new IMO. As far as upper tier production goes Contender and Regulator 23's are certainly high quality boats but they are also the smallest models they build. I think a new 23 or 25 SeaCraft would hold up just fine against either. larger models may be a different story.
