I recomend you go with a rubber rub rail instead of rigid vinel rubber you wont need a heat gun and second they hold up better when bumping the dock, and as far as installing ,you get a 50' section of rub rail find the middle and screw two screws through rub rail onto the bow of the boat, then take the two ends one on each side and pull them straight back over the corners of the transome nice and tight now put 2 screws on the port and starboard back corners through the rub rail , now you can walk on the side of the boat and pull the rub rail like a big rubber band over the flair or curve of the gunwall and it should be tight enough where it does not sag down , line it up with the cap and screw it in , this job usually takes me and my helper every bit of two to three hours sorry I dont have pictures of the process good luck.
