Re: Stringer weep hole leaking water - 23' Tsunami
Amen brother ! It's hard not to address everything, I mean we are building our ultimate boat, right. And, my ultimate boat is to be perfect ( and certainly does not have water in a place where it shouldn't be ! )
I cannot think of where the water could come from to get into the stringer and wet the foam. I think the fact that you have water only in the lower part of the foam is a good thing - meaning, the water is probably old and has migrated, via gravity, to the lowest point it can. I think w/ 'my water' that it's old water in there that has finally migrated to the lowest point of the boat ( I remember my foam being pretty moist when I re-did my stringers ). And, the stringer is glassed over, so the present water could not escape w/ any ease. But, somehow, the wet foam /water probably froze in the winter, made a little crack in the glass for it to slowly weep out, 'oila, it has us in a 'tizzy'.
I'm going to keep an eye on it. I want to confirm it's fresh water for sure. I will check everytime I use the boat to see if new water accumulates. Then, next winterization, I am going to make a 1" hole at the lowest point w/ a hole saw and let it weep all winter. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to re-set the rubber hose that is squeezed through the stringer ?
Anway, let me know if you find anything and I will do the same... Good luck w/ your resto. I am very happy w/ mine. Now, if I could just get away from the 'honey-do list', kid responsibilities, house projects/maintenance, etc to use it ! Sometimes, it's just nice to know it's there !!!!
