Default Re: Yamaha SWS vs. Direct Injection

Let me get this straight, you're fishing the canyons (like the Hudson) in a 23' Seacraft? To those who are not familiar with the NE canyons they are about 80 to 100 miles offshore. The weather out there can turn in a hurry.

We also have places like the Chicken Canyon, the Fingers and various ridges which are between 15 and 50 miles offshore. Right now that is more my range in my SeaCraft.

When you go out there do you bring a liferaft and one of those GPS beacons?

Anyway in getting back to your original question isn't it simply a matter of math? I can carry 150 gallons of gas in 2 tanks which should give me a range of about 250 miles. I have been told that for offshore fishing that I should always have 1/3 of a tank for emergency purposes.

Net/net if I ever get brave enough to go to the Hudon in my boat I figure that i would need about 50 gallons of spare fuel (which I would put into my tanks as soon soon there is room).

Hope this helps (I doubt it though).
