Default Re: 1978 23 CC in New Jersey

Peter,

Thanks for the input. I am up in MA. I presently own a 1985 CC, that could use some work: transom (would love to enclose and hang a bracket like your setup), soft spots in the deck, like to repower, who knows what else at this point.

My dilemma is, sinking a lot of money into my current SeaCraft (I would not be doing the work myself due to a lack of time) or purchasing a "classic" with the work already done for less money.

I regards to the 1978 in your neck of the woods, I spoke with the broker yesterday about the work that has been done. According to him 80% of the deck was replaced, but after talking with him further it sounds more like 50%, from the console back. New transom. The tank was not replaced at the time of this restoration and no one knows the age of it, I'm not sure why. All new awlgrip and paint.

They had a buyer interested but backed out due to a small crack on the inside and a soft spot in the deck. In my opinion and expectation these should not be issues on a boat that has been supposedly totally gone through. My concern would be that corners were cut.

I appreciate the offer to go take a look at it for me. Also thanks for the information that you posted a while back in regards to your surveyer, Bob Dunkelberger, I may get him involved. As you can probably tell I have been following your trials and tribulations of the past year. The new one looks great.

Thanks again,

Ian
