The steering wheel was a friend of mine's. It came off an old Merritt. The center hub was cut from a piece of mahogancy then sprayed with black engine paint with a coat of varnish over that.

Moving the transom splashwell back 10" is a huge difference. It allows for a lot more room to fish but keeps the original look to the boat.

My dad's 23' is kept at MacDougall's in Falmouth. His boat is next to go under the knife this winter.
