Sorry temporarily influenced by some dude in Dixie... Solvent based finishes gas off numerous hydro-carbons (against Al Gore's will) but virtually all plant flowers also gas off alkane hydro-carbons - pentothane, hexane, heptane, whatever (that's the fragrance they put out). I spray a lot of lacquer and I really notice different fragrances/odors of different colors, pale yellows, for example, really smell like bananas.. some other studies have shown color affinities from bugs as well, if they're landing on blue paint maybe they like blue bonnets or blue orchids... Ain't really an entomologist but I've always been able to match the hatch on fly fishing trips -- Shuks, that awl I got fer ya, heh, heh
