Yes, brackets are set up for specific transom angles.

1708 is known as stichmat. It is 17 oz. cloth with a layer of 3/4 oz. mat (that's what the 08 stands for) stitched to it. The cloth is oriented so the strands run 0/90 (parallel & perpendicular) to the edges. There is also 1708DB that has the strands running on 45 degree angles from the egdes (45/45). I'm sure someone else can explain it better.... It essentially elimintes the need for alternating layers of cloth and mat because you are putting both down at the same time.

You're technically not supposed to use epoxy w/ mat, but it won't hurt anything. The mat has binders in it that desolve when laminted w/ polyester resin...it's designed to do that. I use mat w/ epoxy all the time and it's fine.
