Joey, the flange is made to go against a flat transom, but the top (platform surface) has some camber to it. Im pretty sure about the 17 degree, ill recheck when in the neighborhood. I did hold it up to a 20 Classic and it looked to be a good match for a 25" shaft outboard. The angle was just about right with the way the boat sits in the water. The bracket can always be cut and rewelded if need be. I thought the angle was great for a 20' to the point that I am considering holding onto it for a future 20' if no one is hot to trot on it.
Bush, the compartment is large enough that I imagine it add the bouyancy to float the bracket itself, not add buoyancy to the boat. Afterall, the 20' seacraft was shipped from the factory with an 85 horsepower wasnt it? Making the issue more the motor choice than that of the bracket. I could see a 130 yammy two stroke or 140 zuke four stroke on this bracket paired to a 20'. Thanks for the input.
