Hey Scrapper,

If you have an outboard, you can leave your boat in until freeze up. At the end of the day tilt her up to drain the water out of the head and put her back in so the hub is just under the surface. If you leave the motor out of the water you run the risk of water freezing and cracking the hub. If it's an inboard or I\O you can usually get away with putting a light bulb in the engine box over night but I don't recommend that. Especially if you have tranny or p.s. coolers. We sometimes leave the aluminum and steel boats in till we cant break the ice anymore. As long as you don't get more than 3" of ice over night, you're in good shape.
